With 50 states across the country, the U.S. is home to a wide variety of geography, cuisine, and personalities. Many people never have the chance to immerse themselves in another state and instead base their knowledge on stereotypes. People from other states don’t really think much of the state as much as they think of its Mississippi River, the state’s namesake. If they are reflecting on the state itself, most people think of a combination of backwards bumpkins or bleak surroundings, much of which is based upon media and history.

FLORIDA: It is illegal to spread a loved one's ashes at Disney World (although many people try).

In addition to alligators and sunny climate, Florida is known for its wacky, outlandish, and scandalous headlines such as “Florida Man Attacked During Selfie With Squirrel.” The Twitter account named Florida Man, which refers to an alleged male person doing absurd things, tweets the best of Florida’s shenanigans.
